Bar Harbor. Maine (2)

The journey is over and we are enjoying a rest day here in Bar Harbor before driving home to Wisconsin.  We cycled 3750 miles in 53 days, averaging just under 71 miles a day.  What an accomplishment, what a feeling of achievement!  It felt great to dip our front wheels in the salt waters of the Atlantic Ocean while tourists at the Bar Harbor waterfront congratulated us.  We have many great memories, especially of the nice people we met along the way and the beautiful landscape of North America.  It will be good to get home again to our loved ones and a daily routine.

Bill, Dave, Pat,

Congratulations on a remarkable accomplishment! We truly enjoyed having you as our guests when you passed through Fair Haven, and only wish we could have delivered better weather for you as you traveled through New York State. If you felt strange sense of security in your tents on the night you stayed with us, you may not have realized that our young Irish Setter Kelly apparently formed a protective relationship with you all. I woke at about 1:00am to let her out, and when I tried to call her in she was a no show. In that she was not barking, I simply went back to bed deciding that she could stay out all night. That morning at 6:00am as I was preparing to leave for work, I found that she had made herself a nest against your tent. As I approached to retrieve her she actually growled at me, and I had to drag her by the collar to the house! Again, fine ride.

Congratulations. I am looking forward to more trip stories and hopefully a slideshow of photos when you return to Stevens Point.

Bill, Dave and Pat,
CONGRATULATIONS!! What a terrific accomplishment! I've enjoyed reading about your trip and following along in an Atlas. I was getting a little concern after not hearing from you the last week, but I'm glad you made it.

I can't wait to read more about your ride across eastern NY and New England and perhaps see some pictures.

Again, GREAT JOB!
